The City of Tomah, with a 2000 U.S. Census population of 8,419 and an estimated current population of 9,189 comprises an area of eleven
square miles and is located where the State’s Interstate system (I-90 & I-94) divides in Monroe County in southwestern Wisconsin
approximately 40 miles east of La Crosse, 110 miles northwest of Madison, and 171 miles southeast of Minneapolis. The area is also easily
accessible on Highways 12, 16, 21 & 131. Tomah’s location provides for a prosperous industrial development environment.
The municipalities three Industrial Parks –with prime developed acreage, coupled with available workforce and active municipal and private
development groups, place the community on track for future economic and industrial development. Tomah is the home of Cardinal IG and
Cardinal TG, Toro, Exopack, USEMCO, Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Meca Sportswear, and Mars Pet Care, just to mention a few. Local and
statewide trucking firms have also discovered the advantages of locating in Tomah. The City of Tomah is located between two large military
bases; Fort McCoy and Volkfield/Camp Williams and is also home of the Tomah Veterans Administration Medical Center.
